I have been a guitar player in a number of bands over the years but after deciding that I'd probably had enough of gigging I started to get into recording and now have a small studio where I can produce demos for myself and others. After picking up the basics of computer recording with EJay studio I progressed to Cubase and I finished with that at Cubase VST5. This was because they brought out SX and I just couldn't get on with the demo version. I was advised by a really nice guy, Ed Whitely, at Millennium Music to have a look at Sonar ( which was v5 at the time ) which I did and found it to be much more intuitive than Cubase had ever been ( I don't want to get into a Cubase v Sonar argument here it's just that Sonar seemed to work better for me that's all .) I'm now using v7 which is very good and at the moment I've neither got the inclination nor the finances to upgrade to v8.
