The BF-3 gives guitarists and bassists an updated version of the classic Boss flanger with the thickest stereo flanging sounds ever. 2 new modes (Ultra and Gate/Pan) create flanging with incredible depth -- plus slicer-type effects and sounds that seem to swirl around you.

Comments: my first stomp box. got it in 1992 and fell in love. it had less buttons and switches and whatnot back then, but the sound was always pretty slick and alluring. and in the end that's what counts! i don't understand 'res' either, but i've gotten all the flange i need by just twisting those knobs until i get a good sound.

Comments: This is a very versatile pedal. You have 2 different flange options (normal and "ultra") that give you everything from a light chorusing effect to an off-the-wall, insane warble.

Unfortunately, with versatility also comes complexity. For a stomp box, this is a pretty complicated little device. I've had mine for a couple of years now and I still don't quite understand what the "manual" and "res" knobs do. Even the owner's manual isn't too descriptive about this.

The pan control is cool, but only if you have a stereo rig set up. Speaking of which, the stereo outputs from the pedal can be REALLY cool sounding, enveloping you in sweeping/panning from left to right, but how many of us actually have seperate left and right cabinets? This pedal does make me wish that I did.

An added bonus is that this pedal will also work for bass guitar, with a special input just for that purpose.

This has to be one of the best flanger pedals on the market today, regardless of price. And like all Boss pedals that I own, this little thing is indestructible and has quiet, responsive switching.
