Sep 26, 2003 11:49 pm i'm sure many here on hrc don't listen to what i do and that's great. hopefully this blog will at least give some exposure to a band that is extrememely under rated by many: A Perfect Circle.
First and foremost, i don't judge by other's willingness or lack-ther-of to experiment. This is because of my occasional... well once/twice a month run-in with THC or Thujone derived Absinthe.
i sat down with my smoking aparatus and a sipping glass of La Fee and proceeded to listen to Thirteenth Step from A Perferct Circle (latest album) through a set of AKG headphones and was floored. What i thought was a very thin mix was actually filled with a bounty (yes i said it... "bounty") of tones and effects. right now i'm not sure of what produced the sounds but i'm pretty sure of the reason why charlie clouser (NIN) was thanked in the album credits. well i won't spoil anything but WOW... i rank this as a number 1.... even above what Pink Floyd did with The Wall... yes it sounds crazy but YES. unfortunately it will be overlooked by many since the times don't allow for the appreciation of today's mixes and the fact that the average listener is a very "instant gratification" listener.
i hope that longevity is bestowed upon this A Perfect Circle. |
