Web site changes...
Jul 15, 2004 - Contributed By dB Masters
Many of you have already noticed and commented, so I'll just add my two cents here...

One of my new years resolutions at the beginning of 2004 was regarding HRC. I promised myself, and told the moderating staff that my goal was to get HRC higher in the search engines, increase the user base and just generally concentrate on making the site everything that it can be.

In January I made little tweaks here and there and reorganized content a little bit to further help that purpose and since then have been watching the fruits of my labor. I am very proud to say that the membership base since January has almost doubled, avergae daily traffic has almost doubled, inquires for links, ads, reviews and other such proposals have increased and our overall value in the recording area of the web is exponentially higher.

Since then I have also been paying attention to what can still improve, listening to forum chatter and using my own experience and common sense. With that, I have made a plan, that, given the less than optimal development conditions I run HRC under, will be executed in smaller steps over the course of the next few weeks.

Yesterday was the first day that some of the changes were first seen by the visitors, and from some postings, it caught some of you off guard, but I heard no real negatives, so it's all good.

Know this, the changes are not done, there will continue to be more changes, some big, some little, over the next few days and weeks. However, the most dramatic of changes from an appearance standpoint have been completed.

The overall goals of these changes are thus:

  • Increase the speed and load time of the site for all users, as many still use dialup internet access
  • Increase the adaptability of the site to each persons individual browser size and preferences
  • Make the member accounts more secure
  • Give pro members better information regarding the performance of their music and profile via the now available profile statistics available to them
  • Further increase search engine placement and traffic

If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, feel free to drop me a line, hit me up in the forums or leave a comment below.

Thanks for your patience and support of HRC. We are all better off for it.
