Realization of life.

Well, after a less than satisfying 40th birthday I entered my next decade angry and disappointed. I have come to the conclusion I have just been slapped in the face with the bitter truth...it's my role now.

Last night I went out and spent good money on a new bike for my 8 year old who just totaled hers, and now fits an adult bike. The eve of my birthday I drove my wife to a very high end jeweler to get a pair of earrings which I chose as a prize on a radio station for a contribution I made to the show. The day in between was my birthday which was completely uneventful. My daughters hand made me a couple cards which was very sweet. My wife made me the dinner of my choice...that was it. My dad also stopped by to wish me a happy birthday.

As dad comes with his truck to help me take the bike home I kinda complained a little (more in jest, but I was a bit serious). He kinda grinned, looked at me and said "welcome to fatherhood, kid".

Lesson learned...my life is now all about everybody else...
