HooWoo, small springtime victory

From dB Masters on Apr 24, 2007

I fixed my own mower, didn't have to pay anyone...

I never have been, and never will be any sort of mechanical guru, I was a machinist for 10 year, I can build stuff, make stuff and whatnot, but motors, be them big or small, has always confused me. Last fall my mower died before the last mow of the year. I replaced the air filter, spark plug and the easy stuff...no love. All winter I told my wife I'd bring it to a small engine shop and let them have the winter to fix it...

Well, it's now the end of April and I never brought it in...

I grabbed a beer, a 10mm wrench and started disassembling...brained the float, sprayed some carb cleaner in the carb which drains into the float and badda-bing, badda-boom, she fired up a stayed running! w00t!

So, tonight after work I have my first mow of the year. WooHoo...fire up the inground sprinkler system this week, layed fertilizer over the weekend, then is rained right after, so I am golden...and my lawn is green.

It may sound stupid, but I am excited.
