Welcome to 2007

From dB Masters on Jan 01, 2007

Hopefully this year will be better. Last year sucked, I lost my mom for starters and had a very up and down year. Along with redneck neighbor issues, physical injuries, employment ups and downs, and after the loss of my mother the second most impactful issue:

I just quit my martial arts gym after having serious disagreements regarding what is being taught to my kids and what is not. After 2 years of physical torture learning three styles ranking in them, moving on, it's a very emotional thing. I invested much time and energy even outside the gym helping the gym promote itself and grow, and did so successfully.

I am starting a new art tomorrow and very much looking forward to it. I need to stay active and have fun but for a while at least take a lighter art form to rehab some injuries I got over the last few weeks. I am trying TaeKwonDo for a few months. It's not as effective of a real "fighting" art, but is great for agility and such...so it'll be a great way to rehab some of my previous injuries and strengthen up again while I keep lifting weights and working the bags and such at home.

Considering martial arts basically replaced music as my hobby of choice, having this upheaval in my routine is not unlike the emotional pain involved in the breakup of a band, loosing all the vested time and energy and boiling it down to basically nothing but the learned experience.

Rock on 2007, I'm glad to see ya.

May it be better than the last, it HAS to be.
