Mixing Hell

So... ín July I auditioned for a band ... I got picked and we started rehearsing... going well... we got our own Rehearsal space, our own PA all the things we need... and then some, we even got a lava lamp sitting on top of the Mesa triple rectifier
love the guys... all going well... new site is going to be up soon, Pic of the band can be seen in the photogallery :)
anyhow, we wanted to record a demo...
we started talking about how we could be able to get it down... well since the drummer has his own Mics, and I got some, we decided to do it ourselves... I dragged my computer out to Band-HQ and set it up... we started wednesday the 11th.. and finished recordings exactly a week later,
the problem however, is that I only have 4 inputs... well not so much of a problem really, but it does limit me in the drum sound, very thin toms ... not likin it, and I would've liked another mic on the snare, but anyway...
everything recorded great... except for the Bass guitar... First I wanted to go line-in, but we didn't have a DI - Box... so we decided to mic the amp...
ahuh... so what MIC do I use for a Bass amp I've never miced a bass amp before...
so we tried the Kickdrum mic... but it recorded too much of the Attack and no real "bass" at all... the tom mics were the closest thing to perfection we had...
I'm glad everything got tracked right, even the part where there's 6 guitar layers, are as tight as ;) you know what... haha,
now I got about 26 tracks I have to mix... and it's giving me a headache...
can't seem to get it right
I dont have a real low end to it, because of the bass sound
I really want to get this right, and I'm being realistic I know I wont be able to get that radio sound ya hear on MTV and stuff... but honestly I don't even want it to sound like that, I want it to sound raw, but I get no BOTTOM END>.. and it's F*cking frustrating...
I need sleep...
don't get me started on the women trouble as of lately... god... they're all the same it seems...
oh and on the positive side... in just 14 days, I won't be a Teenager anymore... going for the big 20, having a quarter-life crisis @ the moment...
ahh well...
enough... maybe I'll post the song in the next couple a days so you guys can help me get it to sound right :)
