seems like google's going down the path of the other monstrous monopoly, the MS machine.
I'm thinking that this could work, google offers anyone and everyone it's cheap or free stuff, everyone jumps on board, and the other hold-outs have to comply through attrition. Could be a sour turn for the internet.

Feb 03, 2006 02:47 pm As I recall that is exactly what AOL tried to do back in the day...worked well for a while...tried to force all their customers into surfing their little part of the internet, redirecting people to their sites or affiliate sites and such things...
Then the internet got too big to control and there was a mass exodus...
