I need to invest in a condensor, I want to do both cleans and growls with this mic though. Any suggestions? My budget is 150 tops

Oct 27, 2011 06:45 pm I've only had this 1 condenser mic, so I'm no authority, but man I'm impressed as hell with it. It's an MXL 990. I gave $100 for it. It's on sale at Musician's Friend right now for $60. I bought it because of all the great reviews on it. I wound up giving it a great reveiw as well. It even comes with it's own shockmount and a very nice case to keep it in.
Oct 27, 2011 08:23 pm I've been looking into the mxl 990. Good to hear it's a decent mic. That's probably what I'll be buying.
Oct 28, 2011 07:15 pm If I had to keep in the "uber-budget-friendly" category for a LDC, it'd be a Cascade M20.
That said -- if I was going to be using a LDC for typical vocal applications, it'd be the R0DE NT1a if I couldn't get my hands on a SM7b or RE20.
Maybe you can find a used one somewhere...? I don't even know what they're going for...
