I am looking for a fairly inexpensive vocal effects processor i can add to my 'live rack' What I want to do is to add a nice distortion to vocals for various tracks when playing live. Added to this a good reverb, chorus etc..
Has anyone got suggestions for this.
cheers then!

Jan 29, 2007 09:12 am I used to have a rack mount unit from Digitech (or something like that) which was all effects like Reverb, Chorus, Delay, etc, and they were decent. The unit new cost me only like $150 or something (years ago).
Behringer also makes a few like their Virtualizer that sounds pretty good www.homerecordingconnecti...fects+Processor

Jan 29, 2007 09:27 am Thanks dB I'll have a look at the behringer for sure as they seem pretty bloody cheap!
Jan 29, 2007 09:38 am The effects in the Virtualizer units are the basis for the effects on their UB model mixers, which I had one of and they are quite nice for the price. Of course, on the mixers they are not tweakable, but in the Virtualizer they are...I would suspect they are only that much better considering that.

Jan 29, 2007 09:46 am That's the problem I have as I use the 2442fx but i cant change the effects and well, to be honest they aren't fantastic fantastic. What about alesis etc????
Jan 29, 2007 09:49 am Well, now, not to piss on your parade or anything, but you will not find "fantastic fantastic" for that money. But you know that. And without tweakability, you don't really know what they are capable of. Virtualizers are a great deal for the money...in my opinion. If you want fantastic fantastic...well, you'll have to spend fantastic money.
Personally, I hate Alesis effects. I like their studio amps, I like some of their synths and sound modules, but the speakers and their effects are, well, not even fantastic.

Jan 29, 2007 09:53 am It's probably the way i have been using it that makes them ..... ;)
I can say one thing that I have always been satisfied with behringer. bang for buck or should i say euro where i am. i don't think they can be beat. I'll check out ebay
The only alesis thing i have is the 3630 comp - piece of crap... too much bloody noise

Jan 31, 2007 05:39 pm Kaos, Digitech has a couple of specialized vocal processor's that are pretty good. I believe they even have a type of distortion in them as well. I think Korg as well has something along those lines also.
The only Alesis processor I still use is an old Quadraverb 2. It was the only one that really had some tweakability and sounded good. After those it went downhill for awhile. I also keep a DM5 fro the drums as they are killer. I haven't tried any of their new stuff as of yet but am skeptical.

What would be your plan with a laptop??
I use spinaudio ASIO FX processor to run VST plugins live.... sounds funny when I say I am running an SSL 4000 strip on your live vocal track!!
